British Isles Info

Back in High School if any one had told me I’d be compelled to write about History and Culture I’d have told them they were crazy, yet here I am. For a person who barely tolerated history class; I now can’t get enough of it. So to all those parents of other history haters; take it from me, there is hope.

A point I must quickly make is that I was born and raised in the United States of America. I am an American, of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, French and Native American descent, my daughters and grandchildren can add Danish to that list through their father’s lineage. Yes, it is possible to be more than just one nationality, and race, especially here in America where so many cultures and races converge into one nation.

So what gives me the right to offer information about other countries? My own interest in them of course. My daughter and I have spent many hours in bookstores and libraries plus surfing web sites, looking for information to satisfy our own interests and compiling data to pass along to others. I am an aspiring writer, that means I’ve yet to be published beyond a few poems in a high school magazine and here on my own web site. I have a book of fiction in the works and fully intend on submitting it for publication when it’s finished.

Sadly we can only provide the tip of an iceberg so to speak, bit’s and bobs of information to hopefully help others understand the countries and cultures of the British Isles a bit better. We’ll point out a few differences and similarities plus provide some interesting links for those who wish to delve deeper.

At this point in time visiting these lands of our ancestors is but a dream, one we plan to turn into reality some day and we would like to be as prepared as possible when that wonderful event does finally happen for us. For those of you privileged enough to have already visited, we would love to hear about your experiences, and to those who have the honor of living in these areas we invite you to share your expertise and familiarity with the places we can only envision in our minds and hearts. To contact us you may either use the form provided on our Contact Us page or by E-mailing us at gaelicknotstudio@att.net we look forward to hearing from you. As always thank you for visiting our studio.
