About our Hand-Knotted Jewelry

At Gaelic Knot Studio each of our items is designed and created by us in our studio. They are hand knotted using only high quality linen cord imported from Ireland. A light wax coating on the cord makes our open, lacelike designs possible and in the tradition of fine linens and lace we have chosen to use primarily white cord in our work. Our "non-metalic" jewelry is soft, not scratchy or irritating to the wearer and the linen cord softens even more with wear. The pieces are light weight and go beautiflly with anything from bathing suits and denim to wedding gowns.

Hypo-Allergenic
One unique feature of our necklaces and bracelets is the absence of metal for all those who have allergic reactions and cannot wear much of the jewelry on the market. Since even just a clasp on a bracelet or necklace can cause extreme discomfort in some people, we have created necklaces and bracelets that qualify as "Hypo-Allergenic" or "non-metallic" so even the most sensitive can wear. Our clasp system incorporates a long oval or tube bead which slips through an open loop, then turns to secure it. We are still searching for attractive alternatives to metal hooks or posts for our earring designs.

Adjustable
All of our necklaces are adjustable by a chain of five to seven loops ending in a decorative beaded tassel and are designed to sit comfortably at the base of the throat. They can be worn tighter or looser depending on your preference. We use only beads made from glass, crystal, stone, bone or shell that are 100% natural, no artificial products or plastic.

Since bracelets leave no room for adjustability it is advised when ordering that you measure your wrist using either a dressmakers soft measuring tape or a piece of string, ribbon or a strip of paper then lay it out on a ruled surface to determine the actual length. If you are ordering a bracelet for a gift please indicate the size as closely as possible. We have given 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch as extra length to the bracelets for comfort in wearing, if you want yours looser or tighter please let us know via the form on our Contact Us page. Bracelet size is the responsibility of the purchaser.

Ordering Custom Sizes
Each necklace and bracelet shown on this web site have been designed to fit a mid range or average size necks or wrists. However we realize not ALL necks and wrists are created equal and one size most definitely does not fit all. So, if you see something you like, but need a smaller or larger size please contact us via the form on our Contact Us Page to alert us to special sizing for your order. Check the box asking if this message concerns an order you've placed. Make sure you include a valid e-mail address in the event we need any additional information before we can ship your order.
